To Hollywood Studios and Beyond: Galaxy’s Edge

To finish up my birthday week we visited Hollywood Studios (HS). My sister and I were gonna skip it because when we went to Disney World forever ago we weren’t all that excited about HS. The Star Wars (SW) part of the park–Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge–wasn’t developed then. But when we found out that there is a significant SW area of the park now and that my bro-in-law was interested in going there, we decided to give Hollywood Studies another chance.

Not only are there cool rides, but also character meet ups (Chewbacca, BB-8, Darth Vader, and Stormtroopers) and an entire section of the park that makes you feel like you are really on a SW set. Check it out: The Millennium Falcon, an AT-AT Walker, Stormtroopers, an R2-D2 like droid, and some crazy person hiding in a doorway.

It was fun to just walk around Galaxy’s Edge and take pics. Here we are in front of the Millennium Falcon.

We took a pic without BB-8 in it, and when we got our pics later we found this one with the little droid in it!
Being badasses in the back row cuz we were posing in front of an Imperial flyer.
Using the Force (again)

Then we did this cool shot with some kind of photography machine. Look closely, cuz that’s my family and me.

The two rides in SW I enjoyed most were Smugglers Run and Rise of the Resistance. First up, Smugglers Run. I got to sit in the Millennium Falcon, y’all! Here’s Disney’s description:

Ride in the famous cockpit of the Millennium Falcon on a daring flight—and whether you’re a pilot, engineer or gunner, every role is crucial.

The engines rumble as the Millennium Falcon blasts off, pushing you and your crew back into your seats when you jump into hyperspace towards adventure. Along the way you’ll face danger at every turn.

The Disney image to give you a sense of what it looks like inside.
Rere and Mimi as co-pilots

It was so much fun to fly the ship, but then we got to be captured by the First Order in Rise of the Resistance!

This guy tried to help us, but the First Order captured us anyway!
Stormtroopers on hand to make sure we knew where we were.

This ride had so many elements to it. I only had a few secs to take pics. Kylo Ren was there. Armitage Hux was there. The Resistance rescued us in the end, but it was a harrowing escape. 🙂

While we didn’t stand in the long queue to meet Darth Vader and Stormtroopers, we did make sure to say hi to our friends in the Resistance: Chewy and BB-8.

To round out my SW pics, I must share with you this drink:

We stopped at Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo for a drink. I had a non-alcoholic cocktail called Moof Juice. It has two different Simply® fruit drinks and chipotle-pineapple. Not spicy at all. Delicious!

For reference, here’s what the establishment looks like, thanks to an official Disney pic:

Did I tell you that we wore matching shirts to the theme parks? We had matching Magic Kingdom shirts, Epcot shirts, and SW shirts. Here’s the one we wore to HS.

While the Mandalorian and Grogu are not featured at the park, we thought it would be fun to wear this shirt (and we didn’t know that there wouldn’t be anything related to these two characters) because we love the show.

I’m gonna wrap up this post with a fun pic of my sis and bro-in-law and me getting ready to ride one of the SW rides. Wish I could remember which one! But anyway, what do you think of this pic? Is it a good likeness? 🙂

In the next post I’ll talk about Toy Story Land and wrap things up. Hope you enjoyed this post and are looking forward to the next one!
